VARANASI, Sept. 29 -- Panic gripped Lali village in Sonbhadra district on Saturday night after a 10-foot-long crocodile entered the premises of a farmer's house. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Ghorawal police station. The reptile was spotted in the home of farmer Balkishan Baiswar. Alarmed by its presence, family members raised an alert, prompting neighbours to gather and immediately inform the forest department. A rescue team led by forest inspector Rajan Mishra soon reached the spot. With assistance from local residents, the team managed to safely capture the crocodile after an hour-long operation, bringing much-needed relief to the frightened villagers. Forest range officer Gyanesh Kumar confirmed that the crocodile, a 10-foot-long male, had likely wandered into the village in search of food. It was later released safely into the Mukkha Falls area.
