LUCKNOW, May 23 -- Only one of the two electric cremation platforms at Baikunth Dham is currently functional, as the second has been closed for maintenance work for past several days, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) confirmed on Thursday. LMC officials said services at the crematorium have remained largely unaffected, with only minor delays reported."The maintenance is in its final phase and will be completed by Monday," said chief engineer (RR) Manoj Prabhat. "Once restored, both platforms will function simultaneously to manage cremation services more efficiently." On Wednesday, municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar inspected the site and reviewed the ongoing repair work. During his visit, he directed officials to ensure timely completion of maintenance to avoid overburdening the operational platform."We have taken up this work now to avoid any emergency breakdown in future," said an LMC official. "Regular upkeep is necessary to keep cremation services running without interruptions." Baikunth Dham is one of Lucknow's busiest cremation grounds, handling a significant number of daily cremations.
