Dehradun, March 10 -- A 30-year-old woman died and at least 15 others were injured after multiple vehicles collided and caught fire on the Motichur flyover near Raiwala on Sunday late evening, police said. Pramendra Dobhal, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Dehradun, said the accident occurred when a Uttarakhand Roadways bus and a tractor-trolley collided on the flyover in front of Hotel Godwin on the Raiwala-Haridwar road. According to the SSP, the bus (UK04 PA1678) was travelling from Raiwala towards Haridwar when it collided with a tractor-trolley (Swaraj 735). Soon after, a Mahindra Scorpio coming from behind rammed into the two vehicles. "The Scorpio caught fire after the collision. The fire is suspected to have started after the CNG cylinder of the Scorpio exploded, which led to the blaze spreading to nearby vehicles," said Dobhal. Police said the fire also damaged several other vehicles, including a trolley bearing registration number HR46 E0605 and an XUV300 car (UK07 HC 5084). In the accident, Kusum (30), wife of Sachin and a resident of Bhogpur in Najibabad area of Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh, died on the spot after allegedly coming under the wheels of the tractor-trolley. The injured include Kasif (23), and resident of Uttar Pradesh, who was driving the trolley, Subhash (40), Vicky (28), Aarav (6), Lavi (19), Neetu (35), Sonia (12), Anshika (6), Divyashu (8), Anmol (25), Sonakshi (9), Harsh (7), Vanshika (19), Simran (16) and Gulshan (11), Police said the victims were returning to their homes in Bijnor district after attending the annual Jhanda Mela in Dehradun and were travelling in the tractor-trolley when the accident occurred.
