LUCKNOW, June 15 -- Under the smart and safe city project, a total of 1,000 CCTV cameras will be installed across Ayodhya at an estimated cost of Rs.56 crore. As part of the initiative, an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) will also be set up, according to a press note issued by the state government's media cell on Saturday. The proposal has been approved by the state's planning department, and implementation is expected to begin soon. With the assistance from the police department, the cameras will be strategically installed in sensitive and high-footfall areas to strengthen surveillance andensure public safety.Puneet Ojha, chief engineer of the municipal corporation's construction department, said that work on the project will commence promptly once final approval is granted by the state government. He added that the initiative not only reflects the government's commitment to making Ayodhya safer and smarter but also aims to enhance civic amenities for its residents. As part of the initiative, a state-of-the-art control room will be set up at the joint office of the municipal corporation and the Ayodhya development authority (ADA) in Civil Lines. This central hub will enable authorities to monitor security and address a range of urban issues-such as waterlogging, faulty streetlights, and water supply disruptions-in real time.At present, more than 1,300 CCTV cameras installed under the safe city project are integrated with the intelligent traffic management system (ITMS) at the Jal Kal office in Amaniganj, Ayodhya.
