LUCKNOW, Dec. 1 -- The 19th National Jamboree, held at Defence Expo ground in Vrindavan area, achieved a sustainability milestone on Sunday, with organisers handing over 500 packets of organic compost prepared from food waste generated during the event to the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC). With complete processing of all wet and plastic waste, the weeklong event earned the distinction of being a 'zero-waste' event, officials said. The organisers collected 10,500 kg of food waste and processed it at an on-site composting plant to produce natural fertiliser. LMC will use the compost packets across city parks, gardens and green zones. This initiative promotes waste recycling and strengthens the city's green cover, they added. State chief commissioner (BSG UP) Prabhat Kumar said the Jamboree showcased how food waste can be turned into valuable compost while inspiring thousands of young participants to adopt sustainable habits. Additional municipal commissioner Pankaj Srivastava said the event proved the effectiveness of the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle (RRR) model. htc...
