Lucknow, Dec. 14 -- An event 'Zaika aur Zabaan' dedicated to the skills, creativity, and self-reliance of homemakers, was organised at Dilkusha Club on Saturday. BJP leader Ammar Rizvi visited the stalls and encouraged the participating women. Organised jointly by Talha Society and Kishwari Connect, the programme witnessed participation from women. Some showcased products included - Madhubani paintings, while others displayed garments embellished with Chikankari, antique jewellery, gift hampers made from threads and nails, hand-knitted sweaters by children, a variety of pickles, and food items. During the event, a discussion was also held on Zaban (language) in which Urdu writer prof Sabra Habib and theatre artist S N Lal shared their views on Lucknow's tehzeeb, the sweetness of language, and ways to support the declining quality of spoken language. Organiser Kulsum Talha said that Talha Society has been actively working in the social and cultural field for the past 30 years. "The event has been organised since 2015 as a celebration of culture, cuisine, travel, and women's empowerment. Its primary objective is to bring the talents of homemakers to the forefront and help them become economically self-reliant. Talha Society has been established in memory of senior political journalist Usama Talha, along with its gender-sensitive unit Kishwari Connect, which has been conducting free workshops for media professionals for the past 10 years," said Talha.
