LUCKNOW, Feb. 18 -- A 60-year-old woman from Ambedkar Nagar was allegedly duped of her jewellery by a conman inside the premises of Balrampur Hospital after he posed as a staffer and claimed her daughter had sent him. According to an FIR registered at Wazirganj police station on Monday, the complainant, Dharamraji, wife of Mahendra Pratap and a resident of Ambedkar Nagar district, had come to Lucknow on February 7 for medical treatment at the hospital, accompanied by her daughter, Sita, and son-in-law, Vijay Kumar. Police said that after undergoing an X-ray, Dharamraji was seated on the first floor of the OPD while her daughter went to the dispensary to collect medicines and her son-in-law went to consult a doctor regarding prescriptions. During this time, an unidentified man allegedly approached her, called out her daughter's name, and claimed that Sita had sent him to escort her for a medical examination that required her signature. The man allegedly told her that he knew her daughter well. "When she called out for her daughter and received no response, she followed the man," the copy of the FIR read. "Instead of taking her to a diagnostic room, he allegedly led her outside the main building." There, he asked her to sit and wait, saying her daughter would arrive shortly. After some time, the man returned and allegedly told her that she would have to remove all her jewellery before undergoing the test, assuring her that it would be returned after the procedure. Trusting him, she handed over her ornaments. The man then fled with the jewellery....
