'Woman shot dead over land dispute in Dausa distt'
Bharatpur, Sept. 26 -- A land dispute in Dausa's Baswa area escalated into violence on Thursday morning when a woman was shot dead and her sister-in-law critically injured, police said, adding that the incident led to protests that saw villagers block the Alwar-Sikandra mega highway for nearly five hours.
Police said the deceased, Kailashi Devi (52), was shot in the chest allegedly by Rajendra (37), son of Pappu Ram, during a heated argument over land. Her sister-in-law Bidam Devi (53) sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was referred to Dausa district hospital in critical condition, added police.
Police said Kailashi Devi's husband had a long-standing dispute with Pappuram over the boundaries of their lands....
