Dehradun, Aug. 28 -- Uttarakhand Congress in-charge Kumari Selja on Wednesday said that the party is fully geared up to strengthen its organisation at all levels and will work collectively to ensure victory in the 2027 assembly elections. Speaking to media persons after a meeting with senior leaders of the state unit and MLAs at state headquarters in Dehradun, Selja said, "We held detailed discussions on our Sangathan Srijan (organisation-revamp) campaign. This exercise has already been carried out in some states with positive results. From September 2, the AICC (All India Congress Committee) will be sending an observer to each district, accompanied by three observers from the state. They will stay in all districts for a week or so, interact with candidates, party leaders, workers and various organisations, and submit their report to the central leadership. Based on their findings, district presidents will be appointed. Those performing well can also be repeated, but there is a strong desire across the party for new leadership and fresh energy in every district." She added that Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge had initiated this drive and its results were encouraging. Referring to the recently held panchayat polls, she said people expressed their wish for change and were disillusioned with the BJP. "At the grassroots level, people have clearly shown their intent for change. But BJP misused money, power and resorted to mischief at several places. Everyone saw what happened publicly with our Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Nainital. Even the media is being controlled , mediapersons tell us this privately. The administration was misused to such an extent that even the courts had to intervene. This has given us an opportunity to be more vigilant," Selja said. She said that in the coming months, the party would focus on strengthening its presence at every level. "District presidents will be appointed, and we will reinforce our organisation at the mandal and booth levels. As only one-and-a-quarter years left for the 2027 assembly elections, the Congress party will win.....and for this, all leaders and workers will work together," she said. HT tried reaching out to the BJP but did not get a comment till the time of going to print....
