'Triveni': From tribal dreams to abstracts
Lucknow, Sept. 12 -- A total of 37 paintings by three renowned artists from Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat are on display at a group exhibition titled 'Triveni', which opened on Wednesday at the Kala Srot Art Gallery. It will remain open until September 15, daily from 11 am to 7 pm.
The show features contemporary works created using acrylic, mixed media and dry pastels on canvas by artists Chandrashekar Kale (Ujjain), Manoj Pawar (Dewas) and Ajit Verma (Vadodara).
Pawar focuses on tribal and rural women, depicted in vivid colors as they dream of a modernised world. "I have bridged the gap between tribal and rural women and the modern world. In some paintings, I've even given the women wings," said Pawar. Kale presents nature-inspired, abstract works with a muddy texture. "My paintings incorporate Pindola (the term for mud in the Malwa region), along with elements of nature like fish and birds, to reflect the harmony between earth and its creatures," he explained.
Meanwhile, Ajit Verma employs a unique Blockism technique, simplifying human and animal forms using dry pastels on canvas. "My art simplifies the creatures around us through clean lines, patterns, and shapes," Verma said. HTC...
