'Today's politics needs lessons from Udal's integrity'
VARANASI, July 7 -- Congress national general secretary Bhupesh Baghel released a book authored by Awadhesh Kumar Singh on Comrade Udal, highlighting the struggles and milestones of his life. People paid tribute to Comrade Udal on the occasion of his 20th death anniversary.
Chief guest Baghel, in his address on this occasion, said that the way moral values are declining in the current politics, at such a time, there is a need to learn from the life struggle of Comrade Udal. He represented the people nine times from one party, one banner, one election symbol and one area.
He said that the workers, poor, and farmers for whom Comrade Udal tirelessly fought and even went to jail to secure justice are now being deprived of their rights by the present government. He added that efforts are being made to shut down government primary schools, thereby denying education to the children of these marginalized communities.
While presiding over the programme, Arvind Raj Swaroop, state secretary of the Communist Party of India, said that both state and central governments are promoting the private sector at the cost of public welfare, which is contributing to rising unemployment.
