AGRA, Sept. 7 -- Tourism and cultural minister Jaiveer Singh on Saturday dismissed Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav's allegation that BJP workers were behind the challans issued to his cavalcade for overspeeding on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. Challans were issued through an automatic electronic system and the SP chief's allegation of BJP men's involvement was baseless, said the minister who was in Mainpuri on Saturday as part of his weekly visit. Yadav had on Friday claimed that vehicles which were part of his cavalcade were issued Rs.8 lakh challans for overspeeding on Agra-Lucknow Expressway. He had also alleged that the one who issued challans must be a member of the ruling party. "Challans are issued through an automatic electronic system. It is not run by BJP, SP or any party. To make such allegations is illogical," Jaiveer Singh said accusing the SP chief of lying. Reacting to a question regarding the recent police lathicharge on ABVP workers, Singh termed it "unfortunate" and said a probe had been ordered. "Twofold inquiry has been initiated -- one by the police and another by the commissioner. Action will follow against those found guilty," the minister said.htc...
