Meerut, Dec. 26 -- A violent confrontation broke out between Mawana police and local miscreants in village Sathla when a police team reached the area to act on information related to an assault case. During the incident, police personnel were allegedly attacked, and one policeman was stripped and humiliated. A video of the episode has since gone viral on social media. Mawana police had arrived in Sathla late Tuesday evening to arrest a criminal from the village. However, people accompanying the accused-one of whom is reportedly a Delhi-based criminal-surrounded the police team and engaged in a scuffle. The situation quickly escalated into violence, during which a youth accompanying the police team sustained injuries. The viral video circulating on social media purportedly shows a police constable being held by several individuals and left in a semi-naked condition. The policeman seen in the video is said to be the driver of the official police jeep from the Mawana police station. While the video has drawn sharp reactions online, police officials have denied the specific allegation of stripping, stating that the incident relates primarily to an assault on a youth from Ramnagar. The chain of events reportedly began earlier in the evening when Bharatveer, a resident of Ramnagar, approached the police with a complaint. In his report, Bharatveer stated that his son Nitin went to the farm of Abdul Qadir, a resident of village Sathla, around 8:30 pm on Tuesday to demand repayment of borrowed money. Following the demand, Abdul Qadir allegedly took Nitin to a cafe near the Parikshitgarh road. At the cafe, Abdul Qadir's brother Talha, along with their associate Gulab and other unidentified individuals, allegedly attacked Nitin using sticks, iron rods and metal bars. Nitin suffered serious injuries in the assault, including a fractured left leg. Upon receiving information about the attack, Mawana police rushed to the spot. During police action, the accused allegedly misbehaved with the police personnel and engaged in a physical altercation with them as well. During the operation, police recovered a country-made pistol, two cartridges, an iron rod and a stick from the possession of accused Gulab. A case has been registered against Abdul Qadir, Talha and Gulab, and all three have been arrested. Police officials have stated that one of the arrested accused is a known criminal involved in offences in Delhi. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Meerut, Vipin Tada, confirmed the arrests and said that strict action has been taken. "On receiving information about the attack on a youth, Mawana police reached the spot. During the arrest process, the accused misbehaved with the police. A case has been registered and three accused have been arrested," he said. Police officials have said that the entire incident, including the viral video, is under investigation and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings....
