LUCKNOW, Oct. 25 -- In keeping with his dream to awaken the spirit of unity, patriotism and national service among all sections of society, a 'Sardar@150 Unity March' will be organised on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31. With the march at the district level on October 31, various events and marches will continue until November 25. UP finance minister Suresh Khanna on Friday informed media persons that a 152-kilometre march would be organised at national level from Sardar Patel's birthplace (Karamsad) to the Statue of Unity (Kevadia) in Gujarat from November 26 to December 6. It was aimed at furthering the spirit of Sardar Patel's transformation of a fragmented India into a unified one, Khanna said, adding the campaign would inspire youths to embrace the ideals of a united and self-reliant India. An 8-10 km march would be held for three days in all districts of each parliamentary constituency across the state, Khanna said. Yoga and health camps will be organised along with a cleanliness drive. The march will also include paying homage to Sardar Patel's statue/portrait, a self-reliant India pledge, cultural programmes, and certificate distribution.
