'Sarathi Vehicle' and awareness rally flagged off on World Population Day
LUCKNOW, July 12 -- On the occasion of World Population Day (July 11), Dr Dinesh Kumar, director general of Family Welfare, flagged off the "Sarathi Vehicle" and an awareness rally at CHC Silver Jubilee on Friday. He also launched the Population Stability Fortnight, which will run from July 11 to 18 , under the theme "Motherhood at the right age, when body and mind are prepared."
Dr Kumar spoke about the importance of family planning in reducing maternal and infant deaths. He said that it is not only about controlling family size but also about improving the health and nutrition of women and children and securing the future of families. He added that the government is working to ensure that eligible couples receive proper information and services, with help from ASHA workers, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, CHCs, district hospitals, etc. Dr NB Singh, CMO, said various activities will take place during the fortnight to spread awareness.
