'Sanskriti Gram' set to become permanent cultural hub in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 26 -- The 'Sanskriti Gram', which drew wide attention during the Mahakumbh Mela earlier this year, is set to become a permanent cultural hub in Prayagraj. Acting on government directions, officials have identified land in the Arail area and prepared a proposal for its establishment.
The Sanskriti Gram, initially set up in Sector 7 during the Mahakumbh Mela by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism department, had earned widespread appreciation for showcasing India's diverse culture. The proposed permanent site aims to recreate that experience throughout the year, offering visitors glimpses of traditions, cuisines, dance, and music from different parts of the country.
Officials said the district administration finalised land near a private school in Arail, with an estimated project cost of around Rs 16 crore. The plan includes dedicated galleries representing various states and attractions of Uttar Pradesh, enabling tourists to experience India's cultural diversity at one location.
A food court will also be developed, featuring dishes such as Banaras kachori, Mathura peda, Rajasthani ghevar, and South Indian idli-sambar.
