'Police Satark Mitra' receives 87 complaints on illegal activities
VARANASI, Dec. 27 -- At least 87 complaints regarding illegal activities like cow smuggling, liquor smuggling, arms smuggling etc were received on WhatsApp bot Police Satark Mitra, which was launched three days ago in Varanasi range for the public to give information on any criminal activities.
Deputy inspector general of police, Varanasi range, Vaibhav Krishna said that the action is underway against the illegal activities.
According to a press statement, information on 87 illegal activities include 38 from Jaunpur, 36 from Ghazipur and 13 from Chandauli.
They include cow smuggling/cow slaughter-3, illegal drugs-6, illegal weapons-10, gambling/speculation-2, tampered points-4, illegal mining/overloaded vehicles-10, extortion/police corruption- 5 and forced religious conversion-1 and other information- 46.
On December 20, deputy inspector general of police, Varanasi, Vaibhav Krishna launched the WhatsApp bot "Police Satark Mitra" for prevention of illegal activities in the districts of Jaunpur, Ghazipur and Chandauli of the range.
Significant information about the illegal activities has been received in the first three days, said the officer.
DIG appealed that the citizens are urged to report as many illegal activities as possible to the Police Satark Mitra WhatsApp bot 7839880411....
