'Overspeeding, no helmet': Teen dies as bike hits truck in Lko
LUCKNOW, May 11 -- A 19-year-old was killed and two friends were injured when their motorcycle went out of control, struck a divider and collided head-on with a parked truck in Lucknow's Dubagga area on Sunday afternoon. Police said none of the three riders wore helmets at the time.
Samad, a resident of Radha Gram Duda Colony in Thakurganj, worked at a scrap shop near City Station alongside his father, Sarfaraz. He was riding towards the Kanpur Bypass with friends Umar from Husainabad and Zeeshan from Bahraich when the accident occurred near the Dubagga market.
According to investigators, the motorcycle allegedly went out of control at high speed, struck the divider with force and bounced into the opposite lane before crashing into the truck parked along the roadside. Samad suffered critical head and body injuries, Umar sustained a fractured leg, and Zeeshan, riding pillion, had minor injuries.
Samad was first taken to the Trauma Centre but was later moved to a private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Umar continues treatment at the Trauma Centre, while Zeeshan was discharged.
Samad is survived by his parents, two brothers and a sister. Police seized the truck involved in the accident. "Preliminary investigation suggests that overspeeding and failure to wear helmets were the causes behind the accident," said inspector Srikant Rai....
