'Nurses are soul of hospital': RMLIMS nursing cadre honoured
LUCKNOW, May 13 -- A five-day series of events leading up to International Nurses Day on May 12 concluded with a ceremony on Monday to honour and felicitate the nursing staff of Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences.
Beginning on May 8, the institute hosted a range of activities for its nursing staff, including sporting events and academic lectures across various departments.
Chief nursing officer Suman Singh, in her address at the ceremony, said, "Nurses hold a vital place in patient's life. It can also be said that they play a crucial role in saving lives. They selflessly sacrifice their own comfort to take care of patients and dedicate themselves to the well-being of others."
The celebrations began with two-days of cultural performances presented by nursing officers from the Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences nursing cadre, followed by a tree plantation drive and sports event on May 10.
A nursing seminar was held on May 11, leading up to the concluding ceremony on Monday.
On the final day, RMLIMS director Dr CM Singh attended the event, expressed his gratitude and encouraged the institute's nurses to set the benchmark in patient care, compassion, and treatment across all medical institutes.
A cardiothoracic nursing seminar was organised by the CTVS (Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery) department of Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, which aimed at providing focussed information and raising awareness among nurses responsible for caring for patients with heart-related conditions.
The seminar covered a range of issues, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, and post-operative care for bypass surgery patients.
The nurses of OPD-1 enjoyed a game of tug of war and a 100 metre race, and also organised a tree plantation drive in the main hospital building.
During the closing ceremony, chief nursing officer Singh said, "A nurse promotes equality which ensures that the rights of the patients are protected. Our nurses work even in challenging conditions," she said.
"We must keep progressing, because without nurses, a hospital is incomplete. Nurses are the soul of the hospital, and serving humanity is truly serving God," Chief nursing officer Suman Singh added.htc...
