'No slowdown in installation of smart meter'
Mussoorie, Dec. 4 -- Uttarakhand Power Corporation Ltd (UPCL) has said that reports suggesting a stoppage or slowdown in smart meter installation across the state are inaccurate, asserting that the work is continuing in a phased and systematic manner.
UPCL managing director Anil Kumar said: "There is no halt or reduction in the pace of smart meter installation work anywhere in the state.
In fact, administrative and technical arrangements have been further strengthened at various levels to enhance efficiency. The installation work is progressing phase-wise across Uttarakhand."
He said the corporation has prioritised smart meter installation for new electricity service connections and for replacing old or IDF meters.
"Work related to new connections and old meter replacement is being given high priority alongside ongoing smart metering to ensure consumer issues are resolved promptly," he said.
UPCL officials said the corporation is ensuring that the rollout of smart meters is well-planned, systematic and consumer-friendly. Teams have been deployed at the zone, circle and division levels to maintain steady progress. Field officers have been instructed to coordinate with consumers and complete meter installation, technical upgrades and related tasks without delays....
