PRAYAGRAJ, Dec. 5 -- Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Thursday urged people not to fall prey to the opposition's narrative surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Speaking to the media in Prayagraj, Maurya asserted that the ruling BJP is working to ensure no genuine voter is left out. He also launched a sharp attack on former chief minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, stating that the party chief's "No vote, no reservation" remark demonstrates a "deterioration of his mental balance." Maurya claimed that Akhilesh Yadav believes he is close to returning to power in 2027, "but the reality is that this dream will not be fulfilled even by 2047." Commenting on the ongoing SIR process, the deputy CM clarified that it is purely an administrative exercise and has "no connection whatsoever with reservation." He stressed that ending the SIR process is not currently under consideration. He added that chief minister Yogi Adityanath has assigned both deputy chief ministers to oversee 25 districts each, a duty they are fulfilling. Reacting to West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee's statement that the SIR should be halted due to alleged suicides by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Maurya urged both BLOs and the public not to be "misled by Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, or Rahul Gandhi." Addressing party workers, Maurya called for 100% success in the SIR campaign, describing an accurate voter list as "the foundation of every fair and impartial election in the future." He said that the presence of fake votes had cost the party victory by narrow margins in past elections. Maurya stated that constituencies like Kairana and Azamgarh have already finished the SIR process completely, while Prayagraj's urban constituencies lag behind: West is at 66%, North at 71%, and South at 62%. He urged workers to ensure full completion before the upcoming graduate MLC elections....
