Jaipur, Nov. 26 -- An FIR was filed against former Congress leader Naresh Meena in Karauli on Tuesday for making abusive remarks directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma during a rally on November 21, said police. Karauli superintendent of police, Lokesh Sonwal, said, "The FIR was lodged by the co-convenor of the BJP's legal cell in Karauli, Vikas Singh, at the Sapotra police station on Tuesday. We have also received some footage of Meena's speech during the rally. Further probe is underway." According to Sonwal, Meena held a mahapanchayat in Sapotra's Jadoli village on November 21 in protest against the proposed plan for the Doongri dam in the district as part of the ERCP-PKC modified project. "The villagers claimed that the proposed plan will affect the village as their lands will come under the submerged zone. During the rally, Meena declared that he will meet the CM on December 1 and they will also start an indefinite dharna from December 10 if that meeting fails to address their issue. During his speech in the rally, Meena made some abusive remarks towards the PM and the CM that enraged the party workers," said Sonwal. The case was lodged under sections 353 (2), 351 (2) of BNS and 67 of the IT Act, he said. htc...
