MEERUT, May 16 -- The terror of dreaded criminal Mukeem Kala caused the alleged exodus of Hindus, including that of traders, from his native town, Kairana. Kala was killed in a shootout in Chitrakoot jail on Friday. The then MP of BJP from Kairana, Hukum Singh, had raised the issue of this alleged exodus in February 2015, which had caused a ripple in political corridors.

Kala was a resident of Kairana town in district Shamli of western UP. He initially worked under dreaded criminal Mustafa alias Kagga and after the latter's death, took over the gang which committed crimes in west UP, Haryana, Punjab and in Uttarakhand.
