Lucknow, May 7 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday asserted that MSME units have to keep updating themselves according to the changing market requirements. Uttar Pradesh is the largest MSME base in the country, so a concrete strategy should be adopted for capacity building of the youth associated with this sector, he said. Reviewing the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) department, Adityanath gave guidelines for the overall development of this sector, expansion of entrepreneurship, employment generation and export growth. The CM directed that before giving loans to new entrepreneurs under the 'CM-Yuva' scheme, they must be provided proper and quality training. He said that MSME units of the state are not only giving impetus to economic activities at the local level but are also acting as anchors for large industries. He emphasised on making the MSME sector strategically stronger to realise the mantra of 'Vocal for Local', 'Local to Global' and 'Brand UP'. During the review of self-employment schemes, the CM was informed that more than 3.21 lakh youth registered under the 'Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan' (CM YUVA) in the financial year 2023-24, while more than 56,000 applications have been received. Adityanath stated that the flattened factory complex is an excellent model for MSME units, in which multi-unit industrial operations are possible in limited space. A successful example of this has been seen in Kanpur. He suggested expanding this model to other cities and also making the private sector a partner in it. During the meeting, CM was apprised that 77 products of the state have received GI tag, due to which the state is leading in the country. The GI tagging process for 25 other products is in progress. A target has been set to get GI tags for 75 new products in this financial year....
