'Monsoon ready to advance into East UP in next 2 days'
LUCKNOW, June 18 -- The Southwest Monsoon arrived in parts of Jharkhand and Bihar on Tuesday and conditions are favourable for it to advance into parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh in the next two days, the weatherman said.
The forecast for Lucknow is partly cloudy sky becoming generally cloudy towards afternoon/evening with one or two spells of rain/thunder showers. The maximum and minimum temperature will be around 36 and 26 degree Celsius, respectively.
In June, the state has received 18.6 mm of rainfall against the normal 31.1 mm, a deficit of 40%. The Met department has issued five days of orange alert for thunderstorms accompanied by gusts of wind (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) and heavy rainfall likely at times in East UP, beginning from Wednesday and for two days in West UP.
Agra received 33.8 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours, followed by Churk 20.8 mm, Varanasi BHU 10.8 mm and Ballia 10 mm.
The state forecast is that rain/thundershower is very likely at a few places over West UP and East UP. The Lucknow meteorological centre even issued a warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/gusty winds (speed 40-50 kmph) very likely at isolated places over the state. Heavy rain is very likely at isolated places in East UP.
Day and night temperature in the state capital on Tuesday was 37.6 and 27.2 degree Celsius, respectively. Relative humidity at 81% made life very uncomfortable for people....
