LUCKNOW, July 6 -- A milkman was arrested by Gomti Nagar police on Saturday after a video allegedly showed him spitting into a milk container before distributing it to customers, police said. According to a police note, a complaint was filed by one Luv Shukla shortly after the video surfaced online. The police registered a case under Section 274 of the BNS, which pertains to food adulteration. The accused was arrested within hours of the complaint. The man was identified as Mohd Sharif alias Pappu, 40, and a resident of Nizampur Malhaur Purva under Chinhat police station limits. Officials stated that Sharif's actions constitute a punishable offence under Section 274, which prescribes strict penalties for contaminating food or drink intended for public consumption.
