LUCKNOW, May 25 -- Fearing disruptions in water supply due to the proposed strike of the electricity department employees from May 29, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation's water works department has started efforts to ensure citizens continue getting uninterrupted water. On Saturday, general manager, Jal Kal, Kuldeep Singh, chaired an emergency meeting with all executive and junior engineers and directed to maintain round-the-clock operations at water pumping stations and treatment plants. "We cannot let citizens suffer due to power disruptions. All pumping stations will function continuously and we've ensured proper backup systems and generators are in place," Singh told officials during the meeting. "People should not panic. We are here to ensure they get water without any interruption," he added. The department has deployed additional water tankers to reach areas that may face supply issues. Helpline centres have also been asked to remain active throughout the day and night to register and resolve complaints quickly. "We have activated all our helplines. People can call if there's a problem in their area, and we will respond immediately," said a senior engineer of the department.
