PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 20 -- Saumya Agarwal, the division's first woman divisional commissioner, arrived in Prayagraj on Friday evening. She was accorded a guard of honor at the Circuit House. She took charge as the new divisional commissioner on Friday. Soon after her arrival, she reviewed preparations for the upcoming Magh Mela-2026 with district magistrate Manish Kumar Verma and stated that her aim is to ensure smooth conduct of the forthcoming Magh Mela with improved facilities. She further said that her priority would be the effective implementation of government policies. A native of Lucknow, Saumya Agarwal cleared the Union Public Service Commission's Civil Services Examination in her first attempt in 2008. She has previously served as district magistrate in Maharajganj, Basti, Ballia, and Unnao.
