'Loss of taste after facial injury needs immediate attention'
LUCKNOW, Nov. 2 -- If an injured person is unable to taste food or experiences a reduced sense of taste after an accident, it should be taken seriously.
The advice was shared by Dr Amiya Agarwal from the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery,KGMU, during a conference organised by the Association of Trauma and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons at the Shatabdi-2 auditorium. Dr Agarwal explained that in road or facial trauma cases, patients often suffer injuries to the face and mouth. "While the wounds may heal after treatment, some patients lose their sense of taste. This happens due to damage to the taste glands, but timely treatment by a maxillofacial surgeon can help restore it," he said.
