Mussoorie, Oct. 1 -- Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds lashed several parts of Uttarakhand in the past 24 hours, even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast a spell of rain in the state beginning October 4 due to an incoming Western Disturbance. According to the IMD's Dehradun centre, the state recorded an average daily rainfall of 4 mm till 8.30 am on Tuesday, which is 90% above the normal level of 2.1 mm. Udham Singh Nagar district witnessed the heaviest downpour with 21.8 mm of rainfall. CS Tomar, director IMD Dehradun, said, "The withdrawal of southwest monsoon from Uttarakhand was completed on September 26. The state recorded 1,416.5 mm of rainfall in 2025, a 12% increase over 1,273 mm recorded in 2024."
