'Law for Khejri protection soon; 8.2mn farmers under AgriStack'
Jaipur, Feb. 23 -- Revenue minister Hemant Meena has said that the state government will soon bring a law for the protection of the state tree, Khejri and that significant steps are being taken toward environmental conservation and the protection of sacred sites across the state.
As part of these efforts, 2,842 hectares of unoccupied 'Sivaychak' government land have been reserved for 'Oran' purposes - traditional community forest lands considered ecologically and culturally significant. The move is aimed at strengthening environmental preservation and safeguarding faith-based ecological zones.
Meena said that under the Centre's AgriStack project, Aadhaar-based e-KYC of farmers is being conducted and an 11-digit unique ID is being generated for each farmer in the state. The initiative is designed to seamlessly link farmers to various government schemes and services, ensuring need-based assistance and direct benefit delivery. So far, 8.2 million farmers have been registered under the project, he said.
He further informed that under the Government of India's AgriStack scheme, the revenue department has implemented a geo-location and photo-based digital crop survey across the state. The initiative marks a significant step toward empowering farmers through participatory technology in the agriculture sector. Farmers can now conduct crop surveys themselves using a mobile application.
For the ongoing Rabi season 2025-26, the state has set a target of conducting digital crop surveys across 26.4 million khasras (land parcels). Of these, surveys have been completed in 15.8 million khasras so far. Surveys of 317,000 khasras have been conducted directly by farmers through the mobile app....
