LUCKNOW, Nov. 30 -- Karnataka governor Thawar Chand Gehlot said the overall welfare of children with intellectual disabilities was the collective responsibility of society. He said this while inaugurating the 31st National Parents' Conference 2025, organised by the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities at Dr. Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University here on Saturday. He cited the commendable work done by Parivaar- National Confederation of Parents' Organisations over the past 30 years and emphasized its active role in policy-making. Uttar Pradesh minister of state (independent charge) Narendra Kashyap and chief minister's advisor Awanish Kumar Awasthi were also present. Kashyap said the state government was taking every possible step to ensure the education, training, and rehabilitation of children with intellectual disabilities. Awasthi called upon all sections of society to play an active role in providing opportunities to persons with intellectual disabilities and integrating them into the mainstream of society.
