GORAKHPUR, Nov. 25 -- Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said the government is committed to protecting the rights of the poor and ensuring strict action against all forms of illegal infiltration. Addressing the media persons here on Monday, Maurya lauded the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and said the campaign was like a 'grand yajna' through which the voter list will be cleansed. "If a Muslim illegal immigrant takes away the rights of India's poor, the Election Commission's SIR is like a grand yajna through which the voter list will be cleansed. The truth will emerge that no one can seize power on the basis of fake votes," he said. "Illegal Muslim infiltrators cannot be allowed to deprive our poor citizens of their rightful benefits," said Maurya while accusing the Samajwadi Party of acting "against the spirit of Lord Ram and the interests of the common people." He accused the Samajwadi Party of "encouraging illegal infiltration at the cost of the poor" and reiterated that the BJP "will not leave a single brick in the name of Mughal emperor Babar." "No Indian citizen will welcome anyone who comes illegally. People who follow Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, and Christian faiths come under the law made by the Indian government. They will be welcomed, granted citizenship, and included in welfare schemes." He emphasised that the state government is working to ensure social justice, security, and welfare to all genuine citizens, and will not tolerate any activity that threatens national integrity. Responding to a question on Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's recent remarks on Sindh, Maurya endorsed the statement, saying, "Culturally, the people of India and Sindh were as one in the past, and they remain so even today. That is why the Defence Minister's words should be taken seriously." Earlier, Maurya visited Kushinagar, where he paid tribute to Buddhist monk Bhante Gyaneshwar. During his address, he launched a sharp political attack on the Samajwadi Party, calling it "anti-Ram." He asserted that the BJP has already secured victory in Magadh and will also win Avadh in the upcoming UP Assembly elections. Predicting a bleak future for the Samajwadi Party (SP), he claimed that the party "will not return to power till 2047."...
