LUCKNOW, June 15 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will develop a green valley along the banks of Haider canal, between Kalidas Marg intersection and the DGP residence. The new green zone will feature native tree plantations, landscaped walkways, a cafeteria, and an entertainment zone, said LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar. He directed officials to begin preparations for this project during his inspection of development works in Zone-6 on Saturday. Kumar said the canal strengthening work, estimated to cost Rs 20 crore, is underway along a 950-meter stretch. It includes construction of an RCC drain, stone pitching on slopes, railing installation for public safety and pathways on both sides of the canal. The LDA will convert the vacant land along the canal into green open space for public use. The project will also include horticulture development with native plant species, construction of a guard room, toilet blocks, sitting areas and other basic amenities. The V-C instructed officials to prepare a request for proposal (RFP) for setting up a cafeteria and entertainment zone to attract visitors and families. Kumar also inspected the construction work of the 920-metre-long Bandha Road, which connects 1090 Chauraha (Balu Adda) to the DGP residence. The road is being built at a cost of Rs 3.6 crore. He instructed engineers to complete the road within 10 days, saying the road will provide an alternative route for commuters and help reduce traffic pressure at 1090 crossing. The V-C visited Butler Lake, where infrastructure development such as the cafeteria, gazebo, pedestrian bridge, viewing deck, pathways, lighting, and landscaping has already been completed. He reviewed the work of supplying treated water to the lake from the Dalibagh STP and directed officials to complete the pipeline connection and ensure water reaches the lake within 10 days. He later inspected the ongoing facade and beautification work at Butler Palace and asked officials to complete the first phase within a week and begin the second phase without delay. Following this, Kumar visited the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Sthal in Gomti Nagar. There, he cross-checked the staff attendance using the face recognition system and the attendance register, finding them to be in sync and satisfactory....
