AGRA, June 25 -- Chief executive officer of the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad (UPBTV) Shyam Bahadur Singh on Tuesday said the state government has no plans to acquire any temple of the Braj region. Talking to reporters in Mathura, he dispelled rumours that the state government will acquire the Banke Bihari and 197 other temples located in the said region. "I want to categorically clarify that neither the state government nor the district administration is having any plan to acquire any of the temples in Braj region," Singh said. "The proposed construction of Banke Bihari Corridor is in compliance with the orders of the Supreme Court in a case wherein the district judge had appraised the apex court that receivers are appointed at 197 temples in Braj region because of dispute therein. Temples at Baldev, Goverdhan, Mathura, Vrindavan, Gokul and Barsana are included in the list of 197 temples," he added....
