'Geeta Govind Vatica' to boost night tourism
Agra/Lucknow, Nov. 19 -- To encourage tourists to stay overnight in Agra, the city will soon develop a 'Geeta Govind Vatica' inside the zonal park. Spread across 19 acres, the Rs4.20-crore project is a joint initiative of the Uttar Pradesh government and the ADA, a state spokesperson said. Agra has long struggled with limited night-time attractions, leading most visitors to return after visiting the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Officials hope the new cultural space will offer an engaging evening experience.
The proposed Vatica will blend religious and cultural tourism, featuring themed lighting, laser shows and 100 varieties of tulsi plants. Located in Phase II of Taj Nagari, close to the Taj Mahal, it aims to introduce visitors to the spiritual heritage of the Braj region. ADA vice chairperson M Arunmozhi said the initiative would help expand Agra's tourism beyond its historical monuments. The site will also include an open-air stage for regular performances. Agra Tourism Guild president Amulya Kakkad welcomed the plan, calling it a potential game-changer for turning Agra into an overnight destination.htc...
