'Gang duped nearly 20 grooms over last 3-4 years'
Prayagraj, June 10 -- The Khuldabad police, who busted a gang of 'fake brides' on Saturday by arresting seven members-including four women and three men-have launched a search for other accomplices involved in the racket. The remaining suspects allegedly posed as relatives of the bride to finalise marriages with economically well-off grooms.
According to police, the gang's network spans across Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and possibly other states. During interrogation, the arrested individuals revealed information about several other members operating in different regions.
During interrogation, the arrested gang members confessed to having duped nearly 20 grooms over the past three to four years.
Police are now conducting raids at suspected hideouts to arrest them.
Among those arrested, Shahana, a resident of Kareli, regularly posed as the bride. Others-including Nisha Kumari and Preeti Devi of Pipalgaon, Mamta Bhartiya of Jhunsi, Asif and Mohammad Jainul of Shahganj, and Shriram Gurjar of Alwar, Rajasthan-acted as her relatives and family members during marriage negotiations.htc...
