'Felt like home', says Dhami at Uttarayani Kauthig inauguration
LUCKNOW, Jan. 15 -- Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday inaugurated the 15-day Uttarayani Kauthig-2026 at Gomti Riverfront here. The fair is being organised by Parvatiya Mahaparishad to mark its silver jubilee year.
The event began with a procession from Ramlila Ground in Mahanagar and passed through several parts of the city before reaching the fair venue. Cultural groups and ex-servicemen from Uttarakhand took part in the march.
After inaugurating the fair, the chief minister said that visiting Uttarayani Kauthig made him feel at home. He praised Parvatiya Mahaparishad for its work in preserving culture and supporting social causes.
Dhami also said it was a coincidence that Uttarakhand was completing 25 years of statehood while Parvatiya Mahaparishad was celebrating its silver jubilee.
On the occasion, Lucknow mayor Sushma Kharkwal was honoured with the 'Parvat Gaurav Samman' for her contributions to public life. The evening concluded with cultural performances by folk artists from Uttarakhand including popular singer Neeraj Chufal, who received loud applause from the audience....
