'Farmers, scientists' interaction will boost productivity'
MEERUT, June 2 -- Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday said a paradigm shift in the country's agricultural practices is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking at a Kisan panchayat at Dabuthwa Inter College in Meerut, Chouhan said, "Until now, scientists used to sit in laboratories while farmers toiled in the fields. Prime Minister Narendra Modi devised a plan that if we want to empower farmers and develop advanced seeds, scientists must step out of the lab and work alongside farmers in the fields."
The event, attended by state agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Indian Council of Agricultural Research scientists, agricultural experts, and farmer representatives, marked a significant step in PM Modi's nationwide campaign to uplift farmers.
Chouhan outlined the campaign's goal of fostering direct collaboration between agri scientists and farmers to boost agricultural productivity. "We've instructed agricultural scientists to go to farmers, test the soil, and tell them what kind of fertilisers need to be used," he said....
