LUCKNOW, July 12 -- Reiterating that farmers were top priority for his government and any form of exploitation would not be tolerated, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday directed officials to ensure easy and timely availability of quality fertilisers at government-approved prices while cracking down on black marketing, hoarding, overpricing and product tagging. Giving this information here, agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi said that fertilisers were available in abundance across all districts and urged farmers to not hoard supplies. "Daily purchases by farmers stand at 32,700 MT (urea), 6,560 MT (DAP), and 3,559 MT (NPK). Over 14.25 lakh MT of fertilisers are currently available across cooperative and private retail points in the state," he said.
