LUCKNOW, June 23 -- Ahead of Muharram month, which is likely to commence on June 27, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) and police jointly inspected key procession routes in Zones 2 and 6 on Sunday and issued instructions for immediate road repairs, sanitation, and safety arrangements. Led by additional municipal commissioner Arun Kumar Gupta, the inspection team covered sensitive areas such as Charak intersection, Gota Bazaar, Sarrafa Bazaar, Nakkhas, Akbari Gate and Ghantaghar, where officials found broken roads, choked drains, piles of garbage, and dangling electric wires. Gupta directed officials concerned to promptly complete all works in view of the processions and religious gatherings. Additional DCP (west) Dhananjay Singh Kushwaha, ACP (Chowk) Rajkumar Singh, ACP (Bazaarkhala) Jitendra Vikram Singh, and SHOs were also part of the team. During the inspection, challans were issued to shopkeepers who had encroached upon procession routes. Officials concerned were asked to clean areas under the overbridge from Nimbu Park to Haiderganj crossing and remove unauthorised hoardings.
