'Dharmapeeth' doesn'tneed govt certificate, says avimukteshwar Anand
VARANASI, Feb. 20 -- Days after chief minister Yogi Adityanath said in the Uttar Pradesh assembly that not everyone can assume the title of Shankaracharya, Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati on Thursday said the authenticity of the "dharmapeeth (seat of religious authority) does not require any government certificate."
Swami Avimukteshwarananad, who uses the title Shankaracharya of Jyotishpeeth, also said in a press statement, said the state government was silent on his main demands raised on January 30-"declaring the cow as the Rajyamata" and "a complete ban on beef exports." During these 20 days, the Uttar Pradesh government performed the symbolic act of declaring the film "Godaan" tax-free, he said.
He called upon cow devotees across the country to begin preparations to reach Lucknow on March 11. He would make the details of his departure to Lucknow public on March 1, he added....
