MEERUT, Sept. 19 -- Actor Disha Patani's father, retired deputy SP Jagdish Patani, expressed gratitude to chief minister Yogi Adityanath for the swift police action a day after two accused were gunned down in an encounter in Ghaziabad on Wednesday evening for firing shots outside his Bareilly residence. In a 34-second video message released on Thursday, Jagdish Patani said that the decisive steps taken by the police had strengthened the vision of a "crime-free and fear-free Uttar Pradesh." He said the chief minister had personally called him after the attack, assuring strict action against the culprits and full security for his family. "The CM lived up to his word. Under Yogi Adityanath's leadership, the police are proving their commitment to building a crime-free and fear-free society," he said, while thanking both the chief minister and UP Police. On Wednesday, the UP Special Task Force (STF) and Delhi Police Special Cell killed two gangsters in an encounter in Ghaziabad. Identified as Ravindra of Rohtak's Kahni and Arun of Indian Colony in Gohana Road (Sonipat), the two were said to be active members of Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara gang and carried rewards of Rs.1 lakh each. According to a senior UP STF official, four names had emerged in connection with the September 12 firing incident outside Patani's house in Bareilly, and the Goldy Brar gang had claimed responsibility. The hunt was still on for their two accomplices -- Nakul and Vijay, both from Baghpat, he added. The exchange of fire also left four policemen injured, including two from the Delhi Police Special Cell and two from the UP STF.
