'Anti-encroachment drive begins ahead of Kanwar yatra'
Haridwar, July 1 -- With Kanwar pilgrimage, the local administration has started an anti-encroachment drive in and around Har-ki-Pauri Mela zone, for smooth conduct of the fair. "Anti-encroachment drive was started on Sunday in Mela zone including city control room area, Rodibelwala, Pantdweep, stretches leading to Har-ki-Pauri, Ganga ghats and temporary parking lots so that availability of open space is ensured during Kanwar fair," said district magistrate Mayur Dixit. According to the district administration officials, the anti-encroachment drive was initiated on the directives issued by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
On June 27, Haridwar district magistrate Mayur Dixit and senior superintendent of Haridwar district Pramendra Dobhal inspected the Har-ki-Pauri Mela zone with concerned officials.
An official familiar with the matter said that mayor Kiran Jaissal has been making several site visits in civic periphery to ensure open space availability for Kanwar fair alongwith cleanliness and sanitation is ensured....
