'Aim to make Raj $4.3-tn economy'
Jaipur, March 13 -- Rajasthan chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Thursday said the state government is working with the goal of transforming Rajasthan into a $4.3 trillion economy by 2047, adding that a strong investment climate and industry-friendly policies have created a favourable environment for businesses in the state.
Addressing the annual session of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Rajasthan, Sharma said the government has taken several decisions to promote investments, innovation and ease of doing business. These include single-window clearance systems and other measures aimed at facilitating industries.
He assured entrepreneurs that the government would ensure that investors in Rajasthan do not face difficulties and that their issues would be resolved quickly. "Rajasthan has immense potential for development and we are working in a planned manner keeping future needs in mind," he said.
The chief minister said a comprehensive development roadmap is being prepared from gram panchayats to urban local bodies under the vision of "Developed Rajasthan 2047". Sharma also said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has made significant progress across sectors and has become the world's fourth-largest economy, with the potential to soon become the third-largest.
He said that since 2014, the country has seen notable progress in poverty alleviation, economic development and strengthening India's global standing.
Sharma said the government has introduced 34 new policies aimed at accelerating development and creating a more conducive environment for industries. He said efforts are also being made to strengthen air connectivity and road networks in the state.
"Rajasthan has abundant mineral resources, and the government is focusing on their processing and value addition. The state is also promoting local industries through the One District-One Product scheme."
The chief minister said Rajasthan has vast potential in tourism due to its historic temples and cultural heritage that attract visitors from across the country and abroad. He added that the government is committed to preserving the historic havelis of the Shekhawati region.
Sharma also said law and order in the state has improved, claiming that cases of crimes against women have declined by around 10 per cent and that the police are being provided with adequate resources.
On youth empowerment, the chief minister said the state government has introduced a youth policy to promote entrepreneurship. Under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana, young people are being provided interest-free loans to encourage self-employment....
