'Adopt DSR technique for rice to save water, labour'
VARANASI, June 13 -- Union minister of state for agriculture and farmers welfare, Ram Nath Thakur stressed the need to further spread useful technologies like DSR (Direct Seeding Rice) in paddy producing areas.
Thakur was on a two-day visit to Varanasi which was made under the "Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan", which aims to modernize Indian agriculture and promote modern techniques and sustainable agricultural practices by establishing direct contact with farmers.
Thakur inaugurated the "Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan" at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Varanasi. On the occasion, he interacted with scientists, agriculture officials and farmers. He said that Krishi Vigyan Kendras and institutes like ISARC are playing a vital role in taking innovative farming practices to the villages.
The minister also visited the exhibition stall of ISARC where he observed climate resilient paddy varieties, nutrient rich rice products, and specific technologies for small farmers. htc...
