Virbhadra's statue launch event postponed to July 15
Dharamshala, June 16 -- Himachal public works minister Vikramaditya Singh, who is also the president of Raja Virbhadra Singh Foundation, on Sunday said that the statue of Virbhadra Singh would now be unveiled on July 15 instead of June 23 at the Ridge "maidan" (ground) in Shimla.
Singh, the son of former six-time Himachal chief minister (late) Virbhadra Singh, said the date has been changed on the advice of the central leadership. He said that he met chief minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and requested him to fix the date of unveiling of the statue on July 15, which he has accepted.
He revealed that the senior Congress leaders including former national president Sonia Gandhi, national president Mallikarjun Kharge, general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, state affairs in-charge Rajani Patil have expressed their desire to attend the ceremony.
Vikramaditya said Virbhadra Singh was a famous leader not only of the state but also of the country. He said that the statue of Virbhadra Singh has been prepared and reached Shimla and now it will be unveiled on July 15 in the presence of the central leadership. He said that CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, other ministers and MLAs would witness the occasion....
