nagpur, Jan. 14 -- Defending Ranji Trophy champions Vidarbha crushed Bengal inside two days here on Sunday to climb to the second spot in the elite group with 17 points from four matches.

Vidarbha, after starting Day 2 on an overnight score of 89/3 post dismissing Bengal for 170 in the first innings, took a 42-run lead courtesy a crucial sixth wicket partnership between Akshay Wadkar (49) and Akshay Karnewar (34).

Bengal trio Shreyan Chakraborty, Arnab Nandi and Shahbaz Ahmed took three wickets each.
