VDG arrested for killing sister-in-lawin Kishtwar
Jammu, July 20 -- A village defence guard (VDG) allegedly killed his 35-year-old sister in law in Kishtwar's Chatroo area late on Friday, said officials.
The accused have been identified as Sandeep Kumar.
The deceased, Pooja Devi, wife of Rakesh Kumar, of Arigam in Singhpora of Chatroo area, was venturing out of her house when the incident happened, said official, adding that the woman died on the spot. A case has been registered and the accused has been taken into custody, he said.
"We are ascertain whether it was an accidental fire or deliberate one that left the woman dead," he added. "The accused VDG identified as Sandeep Kumar has been arrested and weapon, a 303 rifle, has been seized," he said, adding that the accused claimed that an accidental fire caused the death of his sister in law.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and an inquest investigation has beeninitiated.
Meanwhile, security forces, including army and police, launched a search operation in Malad village of Malhar area in Kathua district late Friday to trackdown a group of two to three suspected terrorists.
"Locals informed the police about two to three suspects with backpacks seeking directions from them. A search operation has been launched," said a senior police officer....
