JAMMU, April 8 -- Amid inclement weather, a big landslide in Ramban district blocked the 250-km-long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), the all weather road link with Kashmir valley, which left several vehicles carrying essentials to Valley stranded on Tuesday, said officials. The SSP, Traffic, National Highway, Raja Adil Hamid, said, "Rains have triggered a big landslide between Digdol and Khooni Nullah in Ramban district. The affected stretch at Digdol has been partially restored, and stranded vehicles at either end of this slide are being cleared."However, no fresh traffic is allowed from Qazigund in Kashmir or Nagrota in Jammu right now in view of ongoing rains and shooting stones at some locations, said the SSP. He said the traffic police has moved stranded vehicles to safer locations amid inclement weather.He advised commuters to avoid travel on the highway until restoration work was completed and weather turned stable.
